StudyBonk is free, open-source and account-free, so these terms are shorter than most. The short version: use the site freely, keep ownership of everything you create, and remember that the AI tutor can make mistakes. The longer version is below, written in plain English rather than legalese.

By using studybonk.pages.dev you agree to these terms. If you disagree with them, simply stop using the site — since there are no accounts, there is nothing to cancel.

Acceptance of terms

These Terms of Use govern your use of StudyBonk, a free educational website available at studybonk.pages.dev. By accessing or using the site, you accept these terms in full. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Because StudyBonk has no accounts or sign-ups, there is no click-through agreement to accept — your use of the site is the agreement. These terms apply to every page and feature, including the flashcards, quizzes, focus timer and AI tutor.

What StudyBonk is

StudyBonk is a free educational tool designed to help students study more effectively. It is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages, built and maintained by TuffyCoder, and paid for at zero cost to you.

• A local AI tutor that runs entirely in your browser

No accounts & acceptable use

StudyBonk has no user accounts, no profiles and no user-to-user messaging. You never provide an email address, name or payment information, and the site never asks for one.

You agree to use StudyBonk lawfully and for its intended purpose: learning. Specifically, you agree not to attack or overload the site, not to attempt to identify other users (there is no data to find, but still), not to misrepresent the site as your own commercial product, and not to use the tools for academic dishonesty. StudyBonk is a study aid, not a cheating service — how you use what you learn is your responsibility and your school's.

Your content & local storage

Any content you create on StudyBonk — custom flashcard decks, AI chat history, focus statistics, gamification progress and settings — belongs entirely to you. It is stored in your browser's local storage on your own device, is never transmitted to the site's servers, and cannot be read by StudyBonk.

This ownership comes with one practical consequence: because your content lives only in your browser, clearing your browser's site data or switching devices without a backup will erase it. StudyBonk is not responsible for lost local data, and you can export a JSON backup of everything from the dashboard at any time.

• Clearing site data permanently deletes your progress; export a backup first.

Intellectual property

StudyBonk is proudly open-source and dual-licensed. The source code — the build system, design and features — is released under the MIT License. The written content, including study guides and this very page, is released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).

The full details, including exactly what you may reuse and how to attribute it, are on the Open-Source License page and in the repository at github.com/TuffyCoder/StudyBonk. Trademarks belonging to third parties, if mentioned for comparison, remain the property of their owners.

The local AI assistant

StudyBonk includes an AI tutor that runs locally in your browser. It is a small language model, not an infallible oracle: it can and occasionally will produce answers that are outdated, incorrect or confidently wrong. Use it as a study companion, not as a final authority.

Verify important facts against your textbook, teacher or other reliable sources before acting on them, especially for graded work. The AI's output does not constitute professional advice of any kind — not medical, legal, financial or otherwise.

Disclaimer of warranties

StudyBonk is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Every effort is made to keep the study content accurate and the site available, but accuracy is pursued, not guaranteed.

• No warranty that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.
• No warranty that study content is complete, current or exam-aligned for your curriculum.
• No warranty of fitness for a particular purpose — your exam results are yours.
• Always cross-check anything that matters with your teacher or textbook.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StudyBonk and its creator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site — including lost data (such as progress erased by clearing browser storage), lost profits, or academic outcomes. Your use of StudyBonk is entirely at your own risk, which is thankfully low: the site cannot lose your data because it never holds it.

Changes to the service and these terms

StudyBonk is an evolving open-source project, so features may be added, changed or removed over time. These terms may also be updated occasionally; the 'Last updated' date on this page reflects the current version, and continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised terms. Because the project is open-source, even the history of these pages is public on GitHub.
